Finally made it through Texas today. Currently in Baton Rouge. We drove through a blinding thunderstorm and got just enough ahead of it to check in to our hotel and get the car unloaded before it caught up with us. We took a break from sandwiches and mac and cheese and went out to eat. That yummy looking food is shrimp new orleans (shrimp, shrimp stock, cream sausage and cajun seasonings over spicy rice pilaf. Tried to go see the USS Kidd, but it closed at 5 and was all roped off by police tape. Couldn't get real close to the river either.
