Countdown to 1st Grade

It has been an involved week at House Houle. We spent the beginning of the week recovering from Vacation Bible School. Jason is always in charge of games, and I was in charge of crafts for the first time this year, so aside from just being there 4 hours each night for 5 nights, there is lots of prep work. Of course it is all worth it. On Sunday, Aly lost her second tooth. She awoke the next morning to find the tooth fairy had left a notebook, pencils, stickers, and $2. That was also the night that we were lucky enough to get a little rain instead of just a dust storm. Gotta love that monsoon season. Of course the down pour was right at the time when we had to let the dog out to do her business before we went to bed. "The Princess" is not to be gotten wet, so you can imagine her reaction. Zac has had his usual therapy sessions to keep him busy, but all that work we have been doing is finally starting to pay off. While I see a light at the end of the tunnel, it is still a ways in the distance. It is only Wednesday and there are many adventures ahead before the week is out. Tomorrow Aly has her karate class and then she goes to meet the teacher night before she starts first grade on Monday. She is very excited, but somewhat apprehensive as well. She is starting a new school (we finally got her in the local charter school) which means learning new routines and making new friends. Friday brings more therapy, and the weekend....a barbeque. I am not complaining mind you. Being busy is good. It certainly beats the alternative.
